Construction Department
The Public Works Department of local bodies oversees various road construction and repair works within their municipal areas.
Some of its major responsibilities include:-
1. Construction and repair of roads and streets.
2. Pothole filling and patch repair work.
3. Repair of sidewalks. Proper maintenance and repair of roads.
4. Construction of parks. Construction of drains.

Health Department
List of major activities undertaken by public health services:
1. Sanitation and cleaning of public roads and drains.
2. Cleaning of public toilets and urinals.
3. Removal of dead dogs.
4. Repair and maintenance of drains. Measures to control the spread of infectious/contagious diseases.
5. Regulating enterprises/professionals that are harmful to public health.
6. Issuing licenses under the Food Adulteration Prevention Act.
7. Removal of garbage heaps. Cleaning and sanitation of garbage dumps.
8. Sprinkling of water in public places and on festivals.
9. Registration of Birth and Death.

Marketing Department
1. The Municipal Council of Lohaghat operates a marketing department. Under this system, tenders are issued for renting municipal shops. Shops are distributed under this tender, and rent is collected from the distributed shops.
2. In addition, to promote businesses, the Marketing Department periodically issues tenders for billboards and unipoles. This not only promotes businesses, but also increases the Municipal Council’s income.
